The Royal Decree that introduces the creation of the Registry stipulates that the organizations registered on the Carbon Footprint and Reduction and/or Compensation commitment section may use a label. This label is recorded and is property of the current Ministry for the Ecological Transition.
The label has a two-fold purpose. On the one hand, it allows organizations to demonstrate their participation in the Registry; on the other, it shows the organisations’ level of effort and commitment on their fight against climate change. In this regard, it has been deemed necessary to differentiate between those organizations which calculate their carbon footprint and are on the path towards reducing their emissions, and those which already reduce and/or compensate their emissions. Thus, the label allows to identify three levels of participation over a certain period of time (on an annual basis): the calculation of the carbon footprint, its reduction, and/or its compensation.
